Flood products

If you have suffered flooding within your property itself you may be eligible for one of the free detailed property assessments being offered by the WSCC through a Defra grant.

At the time of writing (late August) there are still a limited number of these free 90 minute surveys left unallocated. Contact Ruth Webb of the National Flood Forum on 07784168300 direct to see if you qualify and to register your interest, but be quick, please.

There are many products on the market to help you try to stop water getting into your home. If you have already had some flooding or have had a very near miss, it is well worth considering some "property level protection". Information and advice is available from the National Flood Forum, who's "Blue Pages" independent directory is a must have.

You may know that Councils do not have to supply sandbags by house upon request, and heaving some of your own around may not be an option for you, but there is an alternative in the form of a lightweight bag of crystals which swell when wetted and perform just as effectively.

Other products include various kinds of flood doors, air brick/vent covers, non return valves to prevent waste or foul water backing up and devices to prevent sewage flowing UP your toilets, etc.
